Scope of Introduction

This tour will focus on the "Mt. Fuji and Izu Area" in eastern Shizuoka which is about 55 minutes away from Tokyo by taking the Shinkansen. The area is rich in natural resources, where visitors are able to enjoy various scenes of Mt. Fuji, the sea and the sky and coastal scenery, as well as all kinds of outdoor activities. There are also plenty of hot springs on the Izu Peninsula and Atami which you can enjoy.

The Shinkansen between Tokyo and Mishima is 8,140 yen (*) + 1,600 yen for "Mt. Fuji-Izu Area Tourist Pass PLUS" = 9,740 yen!

This shrine, which has a history of over 1,000 years and is known as the "No. 1 shrine in the Tokai" area and is a popular tourist attraction in Izu.

The shrine has a close relationship with Minamotono Yoritomo, the founder of the Kamakura shogunate, who visited the Mishima Taisha Shrine many times to pray and ultimately defeated the Heike (Taira clan) to claim the victory, making the Mishima Taisha Shrine very important to the Genji (Minamoto clan) and famous since then.

The Honden is an "important cultural property of Japan" and has a national treasure called "Ume Makie Tebako." There are approximately 15 varieties of 200 cherry blossom bushes planted on the visiting paths. These cherry blossoms bloom inm the spring every year, making it a famous spot for viewing sakura.

Kakitagawa Spring Park

Kakitagawa Spring Park

Kakita River, one of the three clearest rivers in Japan and one of Japan's 100 remarkable waters, is formed by dozens of underground springs originating from Mt. Fuji. The water wells up to about 1.1 million tons a day and is the No. 1 water welling in Japan.

At the observation deck of "Kakitagawa Spring Park," visitors may see the water welling up through the clean water source and it is stunning to see the deep blue color in the welling up area on a sunny day. There are also several welling up sites where visitors may taste the freshness of the welling up water.

Kitchen Kawasemi, a specialized tofu restaurant located in the Kakitagawa Spring Park, uses purified century-old water from the Kakitagawa River and Japan's domestic soybeans to make Kakitagawa Hyakunensui Tofu fresh every day, which has a mellow, dense texture and rich soybean flavor, making the tofu seemingly simple, yet not really simple, but of the finest quality.

To taste the great flavor of Kakitagawa Hyakunensui Tofu, you may choose the Cold Tofu Set (Hiyayakko). The cold tofu is rich in flavor by itself; the flavor is even more savory with a drizzle of sweet soy sauce. If you prefer to eat hot tofu, you may choose the Yudofu set. The white tofu is served in a hot soup, which is a refreshing way to warm up your body and mind.

The chef uses the most suitable cooking techniques to bring out the best flavor from carefully selected ingredients, so that each vegetable is a main character, making it a favorite for vegetarians in Mishima City.

Cafe bain-marie is available by appointment only to ensure the best quality of food and service. Shizuoka ranks fourth in Japan in terms of strawberry production volume. There are pick-your-own strawberry tours in many places in the Mt. Fuji and Izu areas during the strawberry harvesting season between January and May. At the Izu Fruit Park, there is no time limit to enjoy the all-you-can-eat freshly picked strawberries, so visitors may taste the delicious strawberry at their own pace. There is condensed milk available for free. If you don't know which strawberry is right for you, you may ask the staff on site, and they will be very happy to show you the secret of picking the perfect strawberry, so that you could enjoy the fresh and tasty strawberries. There are also freshly picked cantaloupe and tangerine depending on the season.

The park also sells desserts made from homegrown strawberries, so pick a favorite and come to the observation deck at 2nd floor to enjoy the strawberry desserts while viewing the giant Mount Fuji in front of you and the glittering Suruga Bay in the distance. If the visitors wish to have more strawberries, they may buy a box of strawberries handpicked by the park staff, which are home-grown and therefore available at a very favorable price!

MISHIMA SKYWALK, features three Japanese No.1s: Japan's longest suspension bridge, which overlooks Japan's tallest Mount Fuji and Japan's deepest Suruga Bay. Its simple design, which provides the best view of the scenery, won the 2017 Japan Good Design Award.

The "Bamboo Forest Path" is a walkway along the Katsuragawa that flows through the center of this hot spring town. While you enjoy a quiet walk in the quiet zone surrounded by tall bamboos, you will be able to listen to the sound of bamboo leaves rustling in the wind. There is also a lantern-lighting event at night that creates a magical atmosphere in this elegant bamboo forest.
